Perfect Blue is an adaptation of the popular Psycho thriller book of the same name. Mima-Rin was a Japanese Pop Idol. After she decides to become an actress, she being's to lose touch with her old friend's and herself.

This film is a deep involving, intricately, detailed look at the event's surrounding Mima's growing insanity. Through multiple Dream-within-a-dream sequences, and vision's of her old Pop Star self.

Mima's fall begins when she discovers a website that is written by an obsessed fan pretending to be the real her, and that she is in-fact an imposter. After agreeing to a Rape scene on her television show, she begins having vision's of herself saying she's a whore. This escalates, and eventually we learn that it may have been someone pretending to be her, not her being insane (Although she had to have been if she saw the person as herself...)

Final thought's: One of the BEST film's of all time in my mind. The direction is on par with Spielberg, and Lucas in my opinion, and the animation, and attention to detail are incredible.
